IMPORTANT UPDATE: Changes to Italian Citizenship Eligibility

Recent developments from the Italian Constitutional Court indicate a significant tightening of citizenship requirements. Current rulings suggest that applicants may only qualify if their Italian ancestor is a parent or grandparent who never naturalized in another country.

A final decision from the Court of Cassation is expected in mid-April 2026, which is likely to confirm this restrictive trend.
